Introduction

Nostra Homes offers several ways to find or build a home. Customers may be researching a design, comparing locations, looking for a house-and-land package or searching for a property they can move into sooner.

These journeys share information, but they represent different decisions. Some content describes designs that can be built, while other content represents specific properties available for purchase. Locations, promotions, display homes, virtual tours and completed projects cut across both.

My role covered the information architecture, user journeys, responsive interface design and handoff across the wider website experience.

Separating designs from properties for sale

Nostra's range includes home designs that can be built, townhouse projects and specific properties available to buy. I organised the information architecture around those different starting points.

The navigation gives townhouse projects, home designs and available properties clear entry points, with supporting routes to home-and-land packages, move-in-ready homes, display locations and virtual tours.

The labels evolved during design, but the underlying distinction remained: exploring a design to build and finding a property to buy are different decisions. That distinction helped shape the navigation and page structure.

Keeping related journeys connected

The different ways to buy or build a home share information about designs, locations and availability. I planned the journeys so those relationships could remain visible as customers moved into more detailed content.

A home design brings together floor-plan options, display locations and virtual tours, alongside the townhouse projects and move-in-ready locations where that design is available. Links to past projects offer further examples of the design in context.

These connections give customers routes from exploring a design to finding somewhere they can see it or buy it, with the relevant supporting information close at hand.

Translating the architecture into page patterns

I translated the architecture into patterns for navigation, listings and detail pages, with related layouts for locations, offers, inclusions and supporting content.

The interface shares browsing and content patterns while allowing each product type to carry different information. A home design needs to explain the home itself and its available options. A townhouse or move-in-ready property also needs to communicate a specific location and purchasing opportunity.

Responsive design and handoff

My work covered responsive interface design and preparation for handoff to Emote's development team. Repeated page structures helped carry the same visual language across the wider website.

Result

The completed design brings Nostra's home designs, townhouse projects and other buying options into a consistent website experience.

The work covers the information architecture, navigation and responsive page designs, with dedicated routes into the main product types and their supporting information.
